Solving a problem....

Solving a problem...

Last week we noticed that someone or something was nibbling the vegetables that we planted.
We saw the birds in the garden and decided to make some bird scarers to scare them away.

We thought about things the birds don't like.
Birds don't like things that move so we used plastic strips that will move easily in the wind - they also make a rustling noise which we thought would scare the birds away.

We drew some patterns on the strips as well!

Today we put the bird scarers in the garden.
Let's hope those pesky birds stay away from our veggies!

Planting in the School Garden

Last week we planted some vegetables and herbs in the school garden.
We are hoping they will grow so we can EAT them!

However, this week when we went to water the plants we noticed
that we had a bit of a problem....
someone or something has been nibbling at them...

Room 14 have got a bit of a problem to solve now....

Sunflower Life Cycles

Life Cycles of Sunflowers

This week we have been learning about life cycles of sunflowers. We went to the school garden and saw the sunflowers.

A few weeks ago they were looking beautiful
but now they are dying.
They are all droopy and the petals and leaves
are wilting. The flowers are starting to shrivel.

We looked at the head of the sunflower
and could see some sunflower seeds!

This means that the cycle will start all over again.

seed -> seedling -> plant -> sunflower -> seed.......

Vases of flowers

Look at the beautiful vases full of flowers that we sponge printed on Friday.
We will put some of them in the main corridor to brighten it up!

Buckle up!

Buckle Up!

Today we went for a ride in a police car!
Luckily it was just on the school playground.
Constable Gordon was talking to us about sitting in a booster seat until we are 148cm tall and always making sure that we can hear our seatbelts go 'click'.
We dressed up in some police clothes too.

This is how tall 148cm is!
